Cle Cosmetics CCC Cream review: The lightweight primer, foundation, and colour-corrector is a major time-saver
For the win
Unbeknownst to most of us, there are numerous products and aesthetic choices that have been deemed passé by members of Gen-Z. If scouring through the bowels of TikTok has taught me anything, it is that side parts are for the olds; full-coverage foundations beheld as downright geriatric; while bangs of the non-curtain variety are dubbed relics. Hey, far be it for me — a card-carrying millennial — to discount that, but if there's a product in need of reappraisal, it's the humble CC Cream.
To clarify, this is in reference to colour-correcting creams; all-in-one formulas designed to neutralise the appearance of imperfections such as acne, dark circles, and wrinkles. Heck, the latest variants even come equipped with SPF, providing a hefty dose of sun protection on top of their complexion-enhancing capabilities. In short: it is your foundation, concealer, and sunscreen rolled into a handy tube, ideal for both time-pressed folk and makeup novices.
I was recently re-introduced to the convenience of CC Creams with Cle Cosmetics' rendition. This one boasts substantial coverage, a lightweight finish, and SPF50 — all things I consider essential for a dull, sallow mien constantly exposed to Singapore's harsh sunrays. It's easy to mistake it for a sunscreen upon first glance, where its tube emits a (lightly) aluminum-scented white liquid. I rubbed it into my moneymaker with my fingers, whereupon it immediately transitioned to the exact colour of my skin. Ah, shade-matching tech at its finest.
Beyond concealing the redness evident on the dry areas of my face, I also found that it granted a subtle, dewy gleam to it. In fact, a full-face of application had me resembling a well-glazed Fillet o' Fish, which served as a more-than-adequate substitute for my highlighter. It's a rare occasion that I refer to a product as faultless, but I suppose this one comes damned close.
A singular gripe: its limited 10-shade availability, as well as my propensity to seal off the tube when my hands are still coated in formulae. This, inevitably, leads to brownish staining on its immaculate white packaging that requires copious amount of wiping to get out. But the last one is on me, mostly.
