Buro. Beauty Club Singapore: Is the Diorshow 5 Couleurs Couture the pigment-packed, long-wearing eyeshadow of dreams?
You don't have to be a poet to be aware of the many platitudes that have to do with one's peepers. There are showy statements claiming the eyes as the windows to one's soul; sweet sayings declaring someone the apple of your eye; and cautionary proclamations avowing an eye for an eye. Clichéd as they might be, it does (astutely) convey the importance of 'em orbs — particularly so now that masks are made mandatory. Seeing how the rest of our visage is going to be obscured for the foreseeable future, we've elected to turn up the volume on our lids with the latest (and hopefully, greatest) in eyeshadow palettes. Will the Diorshow 5 Couleurs Couture get us there? We put it to the test.

Prior to dispensing the palettes to the rest of the panel, I (gamely) declared that there was no eyeshadow too bold for my taste. I still stand by that, though the Dior palette did challenge me in that regard. The pigment on these babies are insane – a perfunctory swipe delivered a shock of vivid blue that my colleagues could spot from a mile away. I recommend going at it with a light hand and building up your eyeshadow from there. No complaints in terms of longevity, either.
I initially had my qualms about the brushes, though I've since discovered the optimal way to use 'em. First, pat on your matte and satin shadows with the flat-tipped applicator. Then, use a windshield wiping motion with the soft-bristled brush to get a perfect fade. Metallic and glitter finishes are best applied on with your fingers.

Seven years as an editor gave me access to countless eyeshadow palettes, most of which failed to impress the hoity-toity taste I developed with time. Heh. Frankly, Dior did too, which is why I'm pleasantly surprised by the sublime colour payoff from the new Diorshow 5 Couleurs Couture. Rich pigments by way of vibrant violet hues and a smack of fuchsia to jolt me back to (social) life. I don't even mind its little sponge and synthetic applicators, especially when this is the look I managed to come up with on a sleepy Wednesday morning. I'm crediting my seamless smokey blend to the improved formulation, not my makeup skills. Well played, Dior. Well played.

I usually struggle to blend my eyeshadows but this palette is great in that aspect! It is no doubt one of the best formulas I've tried. Buttery-soft and super lightweight, it glided onto my lids really easily and stayed on throughout the work day. I think the Pink Corolle palette, in particular, is highly versatile because I find the colours aren't super intimidating and work great for both day and night. This would be great for eyeshadow beginners looking to branch out slightly from the typical nude options.

The first thing I noticed was how the colours are super-pigmented and easily buildable. I adore the shimmers as well. You don't get big, unwieldy chunks of glitter, but rather these fine, pigmented sparkles that give a subtle sheen to lids. I expected the applicators that came with the palette to be sub-par - that's been my experience with most palettes, in general — and found that I was right. They don't blend the pigments out well, and instead shifts the pigment to undesirable areas over the lid. Use your own brushes, and you're good!
The Buro. Beauty Clubbers can certainly attest to the Diorshow 5 Couleurs Couture's formula. In fact, we'd go as far as to declare it close-to perfect, where we have zero grievances with regard to its pigment power or long-wearing capabilities. Its soft, light-as-air texture is an added bonus, though we can't help but find that the provided brushes do mar the experience. Thankfully, there's an easy fix for that. In sum: we're pretty happy campers.
