Middle-parts are the latest hair trend in 2021, if you can believe it — as told to us by TikTok users
Middle ground
TikTok and Gen Z have done it again. They have turned something previously thought to be uncool into the latest trend. Suppose you have been on TikTok, Instagram, or, well, the internet in general as of late. In that case, you might have noticed that many gals (and guys) have been rocking the same hairstyle. Or more specifically, parting their hair right down the middle. What gives?
As it turns out, the chaos first commenced after TikTok user, Lady Gleep, made a contentious video insisting that everyone would look better with a middle part instead of a side part. She then asked other users to prove her wrong. This, naturally, drove a wedge between two warring factions: Millennials v.s. Gen Z, with the latter being overwhelmingly in support of middle parts. Jeez.

A large part as to this style's popularity can be attributed to its versatility. It can be worn in many various updos, hairstyles and lengths. Some of the reasons people love this way of parting their hair is due to how it promotes facial symmetry; frames the face; and highlights your facial features. Celebs, naturally, are all over this.
Social media powerhouses Emma Chamberlain and Loren Grey are all for the lewk, with legends Queen Bey and Billie Eillish leaping upon the bandwagon as well. Above, a curation of our favourite faces sporting the look. Just in case you're looking for inspo to make the swap — or don't. Whatever your decision, we promise not to dub your current parting (side, or otherwise) old. It's not that deep, guys! It just isn't.
