Celeb-led beauty brands haven't always had the best rep within the community. A series of failed ventures from the likes of Jessica Simpson, Bella Thorne and Jaclyn Hill have left consumers understandably wary — many of which resulted in botched formulations, substandard packaging, and even contaminated offerings. Oops.

It is a perception slowly changing in recent times thanks to the success of brands such as Fenty Beauty (Rihanna), Kylie Cosmetics (Kylie Jenner), Kora Organics (Miranda Kerr) just to highlight a few. And those are just some of the more distinguished names, mind. Unbeknownst to many, there are a slew of other celeb beauty lines making their mark, however silently. Did you know musical legend Madonna is in the game? What about critically acclaimed Korean actress Ha Ji-Won? Consider yourself schooled.

Honest Beauty by Jessica Alba

Talk about being way ahead of the curve. Actress Jessica Alba leapt upon the natural, vegan, and cruelty-free train way back in 2012 with the inception of Honest Beauty. While this is perhaps the most known "unknown" A-lister brand on our list, Alba's venture is worth the mention because the clean, non-toxic label prides itself on high-performance makeup that delivers in both payoff and pigment. With a growing presence within the beauty sphere, the company is now worth an estimated USD1 billion according to the Fortune 500.

Flower Beauty by Drew Barrymore

Former Charlie's Angel Drew Barrymore is still in the business of kicking ass... with her makeup line, Flower Beauty. The brand has been garnering nothing but praise since its debut in 2018. Not surprise, considering the brand's efficacious formulas, affordable pricing, and plush packaging. It's still (relatively) low profile because the brand works on a small advertising budget — we're told they would rather allocate funds towards product development instead. Hey, if that means high-quality realness, we're all for it.

J.One by Ha Ji-Won

Surprise, surprise! This cult skincare label is helmed by top Korean actress, Ha Ji-Won. Its star product — the all-in-one mask, treatment and moisturiser Jelly Pack — is sold every 15 seconds, with its full lineup of multi-functional products trailing closely behind in popularity. Jelly Pack's main draw? It allows users to condense their skincare routines into just a single product when necessary. We're frankly surprised this streamlined approach is a hit in South Korea, where elaborate regimens are the norm.

MDNA Skin by Madonna

Is there anything the Queen of Pop can't do? Borne out of a collaboration with MTG — a popular Japanese beauty company that specialises in cutting-edge skincare technology — MDNA Skin provides all the luxurious pampering your skin needs with decadent formulations comprising Italian thermal water, antioxidant-rich premium olives, and more.

FanBeauty by Fan Bingbing

The actress and fashion icon launched her beauty line last year with just a single product: the Fanbeauty Up. As a facial device that utilises vibrating motions to help stimulate circulation and drain lymph nodes, it promises a contoured, V-shaped visage with sustained use. The star's been keeping surprisingly mum on whether she'll be expanding the range, though we suspect that new releases are coming soon with her recent return to the public eye.
