Fun in the sun is all well and good, but the days of slathering on tanning oil and baking till you're brown are well and truly over. Science has proven that the UVA rays emitted by the sun age you, while UVB rays cause skin burning — both lead to accelerated ageing. The key to sun protection is applying a good sunscreen to your face and all exposed areas of your body — such as your neck, ears and even the tops of your feet — at least twenty minutes prior to sun exposure. And dermatologists recommend that for ample protection you need approximately one teaspoon of sunscreen (5ml) to cover your entire face, and more for other areas.
