Three quick fix solutions for your face, body and hair
New year, new you
When the proverbial ball drops at Times Square, most of us want to be looking our best. But sometimes all that year end carousing can leave you with dull, tired-looking skin, a dress that can't zip up fully and hair that's seen better days. The good news? Technology is in your favour. I've personally tried these three treatments and can attest that they do indeed work. Book your appointments now. Heck, book them all in one day and emerge a new woman.
TO REJUVENATE YOUR FACE
Try: EstheClinic Glow to Go IPL Facial Rejuvenation Treatment, $220 per session
Time taken: Under 45 minutes
What it is: Imported directly from France, this is one of the quickest and most painless Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments I've tried. Utilising a cutting-edge MacPeel No Pain system, it is seriously ouch-free (just expect a warming sensation and ultra-bright, intense light). This machine uses photorejuvenation to provide an overall skin boost, but specifically smoothens lines and lightens marks and discolourations. Best of all, you can be in and out in under 45 minutes (including consultation, prep and post-treatment skincare application). Also worth a mention, the spacious, high-ceilinged rooms in this shophouse unit, that didn't leave me claustrophobic.
Does it work?: Yes, though best results are seen after three days and after a series of treatments. Skin has a discernible glow when you leave, although I was warned that some marks may darken in the three days following the treatment. My skin was healthier, more radiant and pores were less obvious immediately after. Pick this if you want more visible results than a mere facial can offer.

TO FIT INTO THAT TIGHT DRESS
Try: Universal Contour Wrap at Phoenix La Beaute, $438 ($98 for first-timers)
Time taken: 120-150 minutes
What it is: Unlike other slimming wraps, this one hails from the U.K and is a hydration wrap that works on the lymphatic system to drain toxins, cleanse, tone and tighten the skin. I won't lie. A wrap is never that comfortable, but this one with warm Dead Sea clay, super professional service from therapist Fion and a private room with its own shower and mini sauna, was as comfy as being wrapped up super-tight like a mummy could get. I even fell asleep for the 50 minutes when the wrap was doing its magic.
Does it work?: Strangely, yes. Although I didn't perspire and Fion assured me that I would not be losing water weight, I felt lighter, weighed 600g less and lost about 8 inches around my entire body. Try this if you need to be just that little bit more svelte to fit into a tight dress. I noticed that my skin looked smoother and cellulite was less obvious — a big plus if you're donning a skin-baring frock. Do set aside a bit of time, as a pre-shower for better absorption of the clay mask and before-and-after measurements are taken.

TO RESUSCITATE DAMAGED HAIR
Try: Kérastase Fusio-Dose Essential Treatment at J's Salon, from $128
Time taken: 45 to 60 minutes
What it is: Essentially a quickie, bespoke hair treatment, your hair is first diagnosed before a customised blend is whipped up on the spot ensuring the freshness and efficacy of ingredients. There are four concentrated care formulas — I was given Concentré Oléo-Fusion for nourishment. On top of that, there is and a choice of five boosters for secondary concerns — my therapist chose the Reconstruction Booster for my over-bleached strands. I loved that it was quick and easy, just a shampoo, treatment application and hair styling.
Does it work?: Yes. Despite the relative brevity and lack of fancy gadgets like steaming machines, my hair was softer, less brittle and more healthy-looking. Done in the plush and scenic surroundings of J's salon and with their famed neck and shoulder massage, this 'routine' treatment became a mini indulgence. With gorgeously blown out hair, you can go straight for your party after.
