Commandeering the halftime stage with a super-charged performance at the 2017 Super Bowl, Lady Gaga looked good while doing it, thanks to Marc Jacobs Beauty

Sometimes we have to say thank you to Instagram. In case you were wondering what the exact stage of bright red lipstick Lady Gaga was wearing as she belted out hit after hit from 'Poker Face' to 'Born This Way' to 'Bad Romance', or how her eyeliner had so much staying power under those bright, bright lights trained on the Super Bowl halftime stage, wonder no more. We found out from the official Instagram of Marc Jacobs Beauty. Using its products, makeup artist Sarah Nicole Tanno created the warpaint that Gaga wore, starting her set with a subtle political statement — a rendition of Woody Guthrie's protest song, 'This Land is your Land'. The opening was the only thing subtle about her performance. Gaga appeared in a sculpted, jewel-encrusted bodysuit and with a mask-like glitter detailing around her eyes, looking like a latter-day Batman watching over Gotham. But as she belted her way through her repertoire of hits, her makeup magically changed as well, to reveal purple glitter and strong winged liner underneath her mask.

What was behind this OTT look? Says Tanno,
"My inspiration for [Lady] Gaga's makeup for the Super Bowl was Gaga. She's my muse every day... I was really inspired by all the iconic looks throughout her career so far." To give her makeup staying power, Tanno started with the brand's Under (Cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer before applying the Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation. Because contouring is so important on stage, she used the #Instamarc Light Filtering Contouring Powder along with the Air Blush Soft Glow Duo in Lush & Libido, though we would suggest a much lighter touch IRL.

Because Gaga was not afraid to go all out with both heavy eyes and lips, she wore purple glitter, heavy, winged  liner and classic red lips... all at once. Special kudos to her Magic Marc'er Liquid Eyeliner in Blacquer, that had some serious staying power. And if you want to recreate her bold crimson lippy that still looks good for everyday wear, apply the Le Marc Lip Crème in Dashing and layer it over with the Enamoured Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer in Hot Hot Hot.
