5 vegan beauty products on our radar this Christmas
The presence of animal testing in cosmetics plague many a makeup fanatic. Whenever we watch a beauty vlogger review a cosmetic or skincare product, some well-intentioned Negative Nancy is bound to unleash his/her dormant keyboard warrior-ism to stir up controversy with a comment like, "But did you know they still test on animals?!"
Just in time for the holidays (hello, confetti everythang, Mariah Carey's overplayed "All I Want for Christmas is You", pumpkin hazelnut hot chocolate), we've observed an uptick in beauty brands releasing vegan Christmas specials this year, as if to counter all the mindless consumption some of us are sure to commit. Hey, we're only human.
Alas, a vegan-conscious stocking stuffer can make a unique gift for those trying to integrate more ethical and conscious beauty buys in the upcoming new year (if so, go ahead and pat yourself prematurely on the back!). Don't get us wrong, Buro. Singapore is in no way knocking regular non-vegan beauty staples — it's just that their approach of using animal-derived ingredients alone is enough to make us atone for our sins, for fear we wind up on Santa's naughty list. On the good list: Chantecaille, Kat Von D, Hourglass, Tarte, and The Body Shop, helping us decipher what really merits real estate on your vanity and in your Xmas makeup pouch.
