Van Cleef & Arpels' Cadenas collection dating back to the early 1900s has made its virgin trip to Singapore. In an exhibition located right outside the French jeweller's new boutique at Ion Orchard, it is a gathering of the finest archival timepieces, jewels and objects that are a testament to the Maison's timeless and classic designs.
The highlight is, of course, the Cadenas watch marked by its stunning bracelet and angled miniscule face. Conceived in 1935 where the telling of time and wearing watches by women was considered taboo, it owes its ingenius design to the Duchess of Windsor's suggestion that a discreet timepiece disguised as a bracelet could skirt societal norms.
Displayed alongside the historic masterpiece, are the Cadenas bracelets and multi-purpose objects that speak of the Maison's dedication to innovation. Look forward to discovering table clocks that double up as lighters, and minaudières with hidden watch dials. Contemporary pieces and the iconic Alhambra collection highlight the house's modernity and relevance to today, adding the final touch to the collection of classical beauties.
Visit the Van Cleef & Arpels Cadenas Exhibition at Ion Orchard from now till 6 December.
