After 20 years in the business of horology, Swiss luxury watch manufacturer Roger Dubuis has every reason to be content with their annual offerings. Yet, the company has embarked on a highly ambitious project that further cements its position as one of the top watchmakers of our time. Titled 'Millésime', Roger Dubuis is relaunching a one-of-a-kind restoration project dedicated to its fabled 'Hommage' collection. Only one timepiece from this series will be released every year, and will be related to milestone events that took place in the watchmaker's history.
The first timepiece to be released from this project is a stunner: Based on the stock of movement blanks of the RD181 calibre, this late 19th/early 20th century ébauche was hunted down by Roger Dubuis himself from poring through antique watchmaking lore. It comprises of a minute repeater, a perpetual calendar and a chronograph, all encapsulated within an elegant pink gold casing with an accompanying link chain.
"My character has been forged through restoration," said Roger Dubuis. "[And] what could be more moving and uplifting than to walk in the footsteps of these watchmakers from another era? I have always felt immense admiration and profound respect for their work, their conscientious discipline and their superior intelligence."
