Adding to its Generational Icons series, Swiss watchmaker RJ-Romain Jerome pays homage to one of the pioneers of video gaming — Tetris. Choosing a random sequence of the game's signature Tetriminos, the watchmaker has applied it on the dial of its ever-popular 46mm Moon Invader watch model.
"It made sense for me to collaborate with Tetris as it's one of the greatest games of all time," said Manuel Emch, CEO of RJ Watches. "I remember playing on my Game Boy first generation for hours as my addiction grew stronger with time. It's an honour for me to immortalize this game in an RJ-Romain Jerome watch and share my passion with our collectors and fans."
The RJ-Romain Jerome Tetris-DNA features the Moon Invader's black PVD-coated titanium case and the instantly recognisable Tetriminos that have been gem-set by hand. Drawing on its artisanal expertise, each Tetrimino has been crafted as a combination of four 'Clou de Paris' in aluminium, the first time this technique has been used for a RJ-Romain Jerome watch. Other Easter eggs inlcude a custom made Tetris medallion fitted on the back of the watch case, a tribute to the game's iconic branding, and the number of lines reads '84' in memory of the year that the game was first created.
The RJ-Romain Jerome Tetris-DNA retails for $24,800 and is available exclusively at The Hour Glass.
