A cocktail designed for high society women in effort to modernise chauvinist club customs in the 1930s, the famous Pink Lady drink is source for inspiration for Richard Mille's Pink Lady Sapphire. This model is a new automatic caliber encased in precious pink sapphire, beautifully strapped in white alligator skin.
The original and ergonomic tripartite case is crafted from sections of pink sapphire, a precious stone so difficult to maneuver it requires 40 days to machine and finish. Therein lies the watchmaker's new in-house CRMA5 caliber and a variable inertia balance wheel designed to ensure optimum long-term performance. Also included is a variable geometry rotor that adapts the watch's winding to a wearer's movements. Under Richard Mille's uncompromising specifications, numerous tests are conducted upon assemblage to verify each piece's resistance and comfort.
A technical masterpiece created for a discerning clientele is not complete without some ornamentation. Hand-decorated and gem-set gold bridges, a central dial in onyx and diamonds, a 5N red gold crown, an 18-carat 5N red gold rotor, the RM 07-02 Pink Lady Sapphire is more a gem than it is a timepiece. For the woman who wants it all, this modern innovation equipped with feminine sensibilities sure has what it takes and more.
The Richard Mille RM 07-02 Pink Lady Sapphire will be available for pre-order in 2016.
