Mark the 20th anniversary of Parmigiani Fleurier with the Tonda Chronor Anniversaire
20 years in the making
Swiss watchmaker Parmigiani Fleurier has come a long way in a relatively short period of 20 years, holding their own against long-established haute horlogerie institutions backed by several decades of tradition. Deserving of a grand commemorative gesture, the Tonda Chronor Anniversaire is as much a significant milestone as it is a realised dream.
Since its inception, an integrated chronograph movement has been the vision Parmigiani Fleurier has aspired to achieve — a lofty dream, for very few modern manufactories are capable of creating such pieces. Yet, in a lauded feat of watchmaking, this literal Everest of horlogerie has been conquered with the birth of the Tonda Chronor Anniversaire. A perfectly synchronised and adjusted timepiece, it boasts a manually wound movement inclusive of a chronograph, a split second function and a large date display — all of which sit upon the dial.
With a cutting-edge designed PF361 movement arranged around a central column wheel that acts as the watch's nerve centre, this smoother operating wheel is the lynchpin that governs the chronograph and drives the split second function in simultaneous sychronisation. So well integrated is the split second function that it's able to perform alongside the central seconds hand, and the manoeuvre can be repeated multiple times by pressing the push-piece on the crown. Further flexing their technical dexterity, Parmigiani Fleurier proves their proficiency by maximising the dial space to fit in the large date display — a logistical trial overcome only with a complex level of expertise.
Going full swing in celebratory cheer, the Tonda Chronor Anniversaire imbues a hint of gold in its movement and the cases are fashioned in either white gold or rose gold, christened with founder Michel Parmigiani's signature on the barrel's drum. A symbol and a landmark timepiece in one, if this is indicative of Parmigiani Fleurier's ascend, there will certainly be greater heights to be scaled in their future.
The Tonda Chronor Anniversaire is a limited edition piece, exclusive to 25 units in each colour.
