Enduring, ephemeral, passionate, forbidden — these are but some of love's many facets. Encompassing the vast emotions of this cherished sentiment, Chaumet has been immortalising affairs of the heart with exquisite treasures since 1780.
A true master of capturing the fiery storm of love and tempering it into finely wrought pieces, the French maison commemorates their rich tradition of exalting romance with a special exhibition, the Une Éducation Sentimentale that showcases their intricate creations for famous couples throughout history. These luxurious tokens of love include a series of bracelets with a fine pearl necklace commissioned for French-American actress Lili Damita from her husband, Hollywood legend Errol Flynn, and an négligé necklace bestowed to Maharani Shrimant Akhand Sahib Saubhagyavati Sanyogita Bai Holkar from her husband, the Maharaja of Indore, Yeshwant Rao Holkar II.
In honour of the exhibition and these memoirs of love, Chaumet launches the limited edition Escapade de Chaumet duo that represents the spontaneity of stolen moments between lovers. Like a twisting ribbon that's casually looped, the fluid golden lines of the ring and bracelet gleam a modern aesthetic inspired by the '40s, lined with brilliant-cut diamonds along the bevelled edges.
Further lauding love's infinity, Chaumet also reintroduces their Liens collection that blazes with the passion of the red ruby, enforced with white diamonds that signify lifelong commitment. Rings are set in either a dazzling oval-shaped ruby or a cushion-cut solitaire; both wound around with criss-crossing diamonds and accompanied by coordinating pendant earrings. The centrepiece of the collection though is the négligé necklace that takes after the Maharani's royal piece, draping elegantly with two red tourmaline teardrops or twin-faceted diamonds framed by an asymmetrical tie. Beautiful and boundless, Chaumet is the undeniable haute joaillerie for contemporary love.
The Escapade de Chaumet and the Liens collection are available at the Chaumet fine jewellery boutique at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
