Finding inspiration from the spare modernist look of the Haute Couture collections designed by Raf Simons, Dior has unveiled its new face the Dior VIII Grand Bal Pièce unique 'Envol'. These 15 new, one-of-a-kind timepieces feature graphic statements and animated artworks using various materials on an original face. Said to take four days to create, each dial sparkles with vivid colours.
Highlighting the uniqueness of the design, is the dial that features scarab beetle elytra marquetry, once revered by the ancient Egyptians. Capturing our attention over the years with its unique dual tone, this material appears in various colours on the 36mm watches. The array of colours varies from green, red, blue, silver and purple, complemented with mother-of-pearl on the dial. Baguette-cut diamonds of various shades complete the dial in a spiral motif and extend onto the frame of the watch with gold and lacquer.
Each timepiece comes with two straps made of either metallic leather or black satin, while the white gold prong buckle is set with brilliant-cut diamonds that finish off the elegant yet bold design. The mixture of different elements set off special light effects with just the simple movement of the wrist, captivating anyone who sets their eyes on it.
