The style and model of the original timepiece, helped to set the standard for which classic pilot watches were based on there after. Sharing a passion for aviation with Patrouille Suisse, IWC Schaffhausen was inspired to create a timepiece for the high-flyers.
Measuring 46mm, the soft iron cage in which the case is enclosed in, protects the movements from extreme magnetic fields. The luminescent numerals and hands ensure legibility under any lighting while the imposing crown pays tribute to the past when it was difficult to wind and set their watches with thick gloves and quilted flying suits.
Each timepiece, features anti reflective sapphire glass protecting the case and case-back as well as an engraving of three jet planes that resemble the Northrop F-5E Tiger II, used to perform the aerial displays. The exclusive timepieces also feature inscriptions on the caseback to indicate the numberings and the inscription ' Tribute To Patrouille Suisse'.
The Big Pilot's Watch Edition 'Patrouille Suisse' will be available at IWC boutiques in Switzerland and Swiss retailers from September and later at IWC boutiques worldwide.
