#FirstClassFriday: Louis Vuitton Voyager GMT timepiece
Volez, Voguez, Voyagez
After more than a century of accompanying travellers on their journeys away from home, Le Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton comes with another strapping new option for gents on the go who want something a little different on their wrists. Doubling up as the perfect companion for all city travellers, the Voyager GMT is birthed from the esteemed Louis Vuitton heritage and art of travelling. Here's what you need to know before getting your hands on the latest addition to the Louis Vuitton watch family:
1. All about the V
Conceived based on the letter V, the dial features the dynamic letter — which is at once an initial, a signature, an arrow and a watch hand. Originally designed by Gaston Vuitton for the first Steamer Bag in 1901, the V signature is a personal emblem that stands for Vuitton's travelling spirit — Volez, Voguez, Voyagez. With polished edges and a satin finish along its entire length, it contrasts with the sunny dial and polished case, while setting the timepiece's masculine tone.
2. Entirely dedicated to voyagers
A mechanical watch with automatic wind, its second time zone is perfect for travel and travellers. It is shown on a disc with the tip of the V as the hour indicator. The disc is calibrated at 24 hours and spread in two colours — sky blue for the day and black for the night. Simply glancing at the tip of the V puts an end to switching between two time zones.
3. An ovoid case that has never been seen on a Louis Vuitton timepiece before
Despite drifting from the maison's previous creations, the Voyage GMT clearly still echoes its uniquely distinctive codes. Midway between a circle and a square, the 41.5mm case is a result of the constant quest for creativity that is the founding spirit behind the maison. The timepiece reflects light off the curves of its case in a thousand directions and perfectly hugs the wrist.
4. It has an 18-carat pink gold version
Available in various finishes for different looks, the classic timepiece either sports a supple Taurillon leather bracelet with a steel folding clasp or a stainless steel bracelet — with the option of a grey or anthracite dial. For the rose gold enthusiast, the Voyage GMT comes in an 18-carat pink gold version featuring a midnight blue dial and an alligator bracelet in the same hue. Whichever variant one picks, each guarantees the promise of a luxurious feel suited for any journey.
The Louis Vuitton Voyager GMT watch is available at Louis Vuitton boutiques at Ngee Ann City and The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
