#FirstClassFriday: Bulgari’s B.zero1 Design Legend by Zaha Hadid
Your new style statement
If you were going to reinterpret the design of an icon, you'd want no one lesser than the late grand dame of architecture to tweak the blueprints. Enter Zaha Hadid in collaboration with Bulgari as two 'out-of-the-box' creative forces fuse their respective know-how and talents into the B.zero1, effectively revolutionising this signature jewellery series with a startling stylistic iteration better known as the Design Legend.
Raising the bar on the disruptive nature of the collection, Hadid has deconstructed the original central looping band — the tubogas motif — with intersecting spirals that resemble undulating gold waves, creating a new geometry that highlights a fluid tactility to the silhouette. Held within two flat rings engraved with the classic Bulgari insignia, the Design Legend is at once free flowing yet linear, gleaming a uniquely dynamic façade that renders the metal with a seemingly organic feel. And when it's worn, the ring appears to be poised over the finger, hovering rather than enclosing, tricking the eye and demanding a closer look at this impossible construction — a trait Hadid excels at with her physics-defying buildings, which has been translated onto the B.zero1. Trademarked with such distinction and Hadid's own hand that will go on well beyond her passing, this is fine jewellery made to be a talking piece everyone will clamour over.
The Bulgari B.zero1 Design Legend will launch in April.
