Fans of Alila Hotels and Resorts have no shortage of options when it comes to Bali. With four properties spread across the Indonesia island, you can choose to hole up against the lush backdrop of Ubud or take in the dramatic cliff-side views at Uluwatu. Alila has been notably absent from the fashionable Seminyak strip, but all that is about to change when the group's fifth property — Alila Seminyak — opens its doors next month.
The 240-room property might be located just a stone's throw away from Potato Head Beach Club, but the tropical retreat features vertical greens and leafy shrubs to cocoon you from the urban bustle of the neighbourhood. It doesn't hurt that the property opens right onto the beach — perfect for long, languid walks at sundown.
While the rooms and suites range from 46 to 177 square metres, those looking to check into the hotel's most luxurious offering should book ahead for the 811 square metre penthouse.
Most notably, Alila Seminyak is the first resort in Indonesia to satisfy the rigorous EarthCheck standards with a 44-point best practice score. Rainwater harvesting, low energy light fixtures, and the use of local and recyclable building materials are just some of the green nods towards the resort's eco and energy solutions.
There's plenty to do in Seminyak. But if you're a little lazy to venture out of the property, check into Spa Alila to experience their slew of Asian-inspired spa therapies or have a feast at the hotel's all-day dining restaurant.
