#TechThursday: Here's why UberEATS is the food delivery app to watch
From supercar pick-ups to on-demand lion dance troupes, ride-hailing app Uber never fails to pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat. This time around, they've launched UberEATS, a food delivery app that hungry folk can get behind. Singapore can count itself lucky for being the first city in Asia to welcome UberEATS.
The mechanics are really quite simple. In true foolproof Uber fashion, you simply mark out your location before you're presented with a mind-boggling list of over 100 restaurants to choose from. Foodies haunts such as Burnt Ends (notoriously hard to score a table at), Teppei Syokudo, and Angelina are amongst the impressive constellation of restaurants that have opted into the programme.
Unlike other food delivery apps such as Deliveroo and FoodPanda, UberEATS also includes photos of each dish, making it so much easier for you to know exactly what you're ordering. If you're not familiar with a restaurant, look under the 'Most Popular' tab to browse the restaurant's best-selling dishes.
For a start, UberEATS is only available within the Central Business District, Tanjong Pagar, Orchard, and River Valley from 11am to 10pm. Thankfully, UberEATS has expressed plans to expand the service area and roll call of eateries in the near future. Needless to say, we expect great things to come.
From now till 30 June 2016, you may enter the promo code 'UBEREATSSG' into your UberEATS app to enjoy $15 off your first order.
