Think of Dolce & Gabbana and refrigerators aren't usually what comes to mind. However, the Italian fashion house has teamed up with fellow Italian kitchen appliance manufacturer Smeg to turn out statement fridges to jazz up any kitchen. Released under the FAB28 marquee, this unorthodox collaboration between the two Italian brands sees Smeg's retro, minimalist designs replaced with a vibrant tableau of marionette theatres and medieval knights — cornerstones that pay homage to Italy's rich arc of history.
These statement refrigerators aren't just for keeping your fruit and vegetables fashionably chilled. Thanks to the Sicilian artists who've annointed this unusual canvas with their paintbrushes, these limited edition Smeg fridges could very well double up as objets d'art. With only 100 of these set to hit the market, you'll want to place your orders pronto.
The Dolce & Gabanna x Smeg collection will debut at Salone Internazionale Del Mobile 2016 from 12 to 17 April.
