A look at the very first fully waterproofed Leica X camera

A look at the very first fully waterproofed Leica X camera
The Leica X-U is well armoured to weather rough conditions

The latest edition to the Leica X family is the hardiest little fella of the squad. Dubbed the Leica X-U, it's shock-resistant, dust-sealed, shatterproof, and rugged enough to stand up against the coldest winters. With Audi Design steering the look and feel of this rugged camera, you'll find the device fitted with an underwater protection filter, top plate made from premium aluminium and TPE armouring, and dials in anodised aluminium. A non-slip body helps to guard against butter fingers — preventing any possible episodes of accidental destruction.

Fitted with a Leica Summilux 23mm f/1.7 ASPH. lens and large APS-C format CMOS sensor, the camera delivers photos layered with exceptional brightness and clarity that's hedged against all odds. You can also dive up to 15 metres below sea level with it, making it the perfect camera for avid divers or casual snorkelers.

Video buffs can also call upon the camera's full HD video function to capture cinematic moments in 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720 pixel resolutions. If such great explorers as Ernest Shakleton or Edmund Hillary lived in our time, there's no doubt the Leica X-U would make the perfect travel companion to their epic journeys.

Now available at Leica Stores (located at Raffles Hotel Arcade, Mandarin Gallery and ION Orchard), and Leica-authorised dealers.
