How the Beoplay E8 will give AirPods a run for its money
Start, pause, and skip your favourite tracks with just a single tap

Love it or hate it, there's no denying that we're living in the frontier of the wireless age. When Apple launched AirPods last year, people were sceptical. These days, we can't seem to live without them — after all, our tech devices seem way more desirable sans the messy sight of dangling wires.

Danish tech mavens Bang & Olufsen have jumped onto the bandwagon, following suit with the brand's inaugural launch of totally wireless earphones, Beoplay E8. Abiding by the B&O design ethos, the product is shaped beautifully discreet and stylish all at once. Compact, diminutive, and fits perfectly in your ears — like a bug in those spy movies?

Buttons? Not on these buds. Encompassing an intuitive touch interface, all you have to do is tap on its aluminium base for control with the Beoplay E8, whether its activation or pausing a track. Want to put Kendrick Lamar on hold? Tap once on the right earbud. If you wish to skip the song, simply double tap on the same side. While it might take a while to get accustomed to the controls, once you've mastered it, you no longer have to fumble with your phone to manage your auditory experience. Also, expect no less from the luxury brand in terms of its software, as the Beoplay E8 is tuned by the prestigious B&O sound engineers for a rich, full-bodied, and precise soundstage. It may be small, but each bud is built with a 5.7mm dynamic speaker.

What's also cool is its transparency mode (activated with a single tap on the left earbud), which streams sound from the outside world into the headphones. It's like noise cancellation, but works in reverse. A tad sneaky if you ask us, as this means you can easily tap into people's conversations under the façade that you're plugged in.

These earphones deliver up to four hours of music on one charge, accompanied with a pocket-friendly charging case. Whenever you're not using them, simply stow them away in the nifty case, so your buds are effectively powered up before your next move.

Available at the Bang & Olufsen store and other selected retailers.
