Are all carbohydrates evil? Given the reigning obsession with all things low-carb and no-carb, just the mere mention of rice or pasta will make the fit elite shake their heads in disapproval. However, as we learnt from our recent Buro Fitness Lunch, not all forms of carbohydates are bad for you. Trust Chris Richards and Natalie Kuan of Ultimate Performance Singapore to dish out these pearls of wisdom, as Buro readers and invited guests gathered in our cosy living room at The Co. for our first-ever fitness event.

Now that we're almost a month into the new year, there's no better time to revisit your fitness resolutions — if you've already started on them, that is. Prone to putting off your visits to the gym? Richards has the perfect solution — a series of exercises you can execute right from the comfort of your own home. Guests at the lunch were privy to live demonstrations of each exercise, accompanied by useful tips on perfecting one's form for each movement.

Every good fitness regime is accompanied by a healthful diet and our lunch menu reflected just that. Juice Junkie (the very same people who created our special Buro juice) gave everyone a shot of beetroot juice cold-pressed with carrots, lemons, cucumbers, spinach, and a warming zing of ginger. Those who enjoyed the smooth flavours of almond milk could also choose from a special almond milk blend sweetened with blueberries, strawberries, chia seeds, and coconut protein powder.
