Singapore Coffee Festival 2016: Highlights you shouldn't miss
We've come a long way since our days of dark, sock-pulled coffee at the kopitiam. The flush of third wave coffee on the island has given us something else to wake up to. Single-origin coffee and chemex coffee makers are no longer foreign concepts parlayed by coffee geeks — seeping their way into our caffeine-fuelled lexicon in recent years. It seems there's no better time than now for the 2016 Singapore Coffee Festival to take flight. Come 10 to 12 June, cafe hoppers will have a field day out at the three-day coffee-centric festival that pulls together some of Singapore's top cafes alongside a whole slew of activities primed to bolster your knowledge of coffee from good to great.
1. Drink up
With specialty coffee purveyors such as Common Man Coffee Roasters, Chye Seng Huat Hardware, and Dapper Coffee on site, there's certainly plenty of coffee to quaff. Stay off the ristrettos though — you'll want to pace yourself here.
2. Groom your inner barista
Think it's easy to achieve that perfect crema? Drop into one of many workshops that illuminate how baristas create latte art and hone the techniques necessary for pulling the perfect shot.
3. Listen and learn
Keen to hear from top baristas and the very people who took the plunge with setting up their own cafes? The panel discussions happening during the festival might just very well inspire you to ditch the day job and follow the call of the little black bean.
