Fans of Gordon Ramsay, rejoice. The fast-talking, caustic chef has opened the Singapore outpost of his London restaurant Bread Street Kitchen right here at Marina Bay Sands. While other celebrity chefs have their restaurants sited within the mall itself, Ramsay's new digs occupy an enviable promenade position complete with views of the Marina Bay waterfront.
The two-storey restaurant and bar designed by Blueplate Studios puts every hipster café out there to shame. Yes, there's the exposed pipework, vintage-inspired lighting, and requisite monochrome artwork mounted on the walls — but the trendy industrial aesthetic is carried off here with a keener eye and polished flair. Given Ramsay's allergy to mediocrity, you wouldn't expect any less.
Foodwise, the restaurant's menu mirrors that of its London flagship. The culinary team here led by Ramsay's right-hand woman Executive Chef Sabrina Stillhart will dish up such British European fare as shepherd's pie, roasted veal carpaccio, and roasted baby chicken with chimichurri and burnt lemon. There are plans to integrate local flavours into the menu once operations normalise.
If you prefer to try Ramsay's food without having to muscle through the crowd, book out the 14-seater private dining area in the basement. Here, you'll get a glimpse of all the action in the kitchen.
