How well do you deal with change? If you're on Instagram (who isn't?), you'll notice that change has been a leitmotif of late. Thanks to the newly introduced 'views' counter on video content, our feeds have seen an exponential increase in the number of video posts nestled between VSCO-ed frames of latte art and cats ruling the world.
But the biggest change bomb is yet to come. As announced on Instagram's blog, "your feed will soon be ordered to show the moments we believe you will care about the most." What exactly does that mean? Moving away from a chronological streaming of posts, Instagram will now present photos based on multiple factors, namely your interest in the content, your relationship with the person who's posting, and how recently the post has gone up. Sounds familiar? That's pretty much how Facebook works, which makes us wonder — whatever happened to the 'Insta' in Instagram?
Thankfully, the changes are set to roll out within the next few months. So for those of you who're already feeling a little sentimental about your out-going chronological feed, savour the last of it.
