Forwarding the notion that pictures can indeed change the world, the 'Getty Images Instagram Grant' sees the two giants of online visuals teaming up for a social cause. Recognising the reach and influence of social media in this day and age, the grant aims to support photographers who document stories about under-represented communities via Instagram.

Three winners will be selected to receive a grant of US$10,000 each along with the chance to be mentored by one of Getty Images' photographers. That isn't all. Their winning work will also be showcased at the prestigious Photoville photography festival.

If you're not one for photography but know someone who might be, cue them in on the grant with the hashtag #GettyImagesInstagramGrant.

Applications for the grant run until 4 June. More details can be found here.
