Many race car drivers dream of flying through Eau Rouge at Belgium's fabled Spa-Francorchamps circuit, and for Kamlung Racing's Chris van der Drift of New Zealand and Singaporean Yuey Tan of Team Jebsen, that dream has become a reality. The two drivers will fly over next month to start on the full grid at the 2015 Porsche Carrera Cup 24 Hours of Spa, a race which runs in support of the 24 Hours of Spa endurance racing event.
The race, which takes place from 23 to 25 July 2015, is jointly organised by the Porsche Carrera Cups of France and Italy and features a selection of the best Carrera Cup drivers in the world. The invitations to make up the Team Carrera Cup Asia entry were extended to van der Drift and Tan following Round 6 of the 2015 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia held at Japan's Fuji International Speedway.
Tan has watched all the great Spa races time and time again, and the chance to compete at the race itself is very much a dream come true. "I'm quite lost for words. I feel a little emotional. I want to achieve a result there, so I'm going to study and learn the track as much as I can on simulators," said Tan. It has barely been a year since Tan became the first Singaporean to top his class on the Singapore Marina Bay Circuit. Speaking about this opportunity to race on the tracks in Belgium, Tan said: "More than ever, I feel the white and red patriotism of being Singaporean [sic]...there are a lot of great drivers in the field and I am just taking each race one at a time."
