Inside Virgin Active's new outlet at Tanjong Pagar
Sweat it out
Following the success of Virgin Active's first outlet at Raffles Place, its Tanjong Pagar counterpart is set to open its doors come 1 December, giving cubicle warriors on this side of the Central Business District a health and fitness centre to call their own. With founder Richard Branson at the helm, it's always business unusual at Virgin Active.
For starters, the 31,000 square feet Tanjong Pagar gym is fitted with a High Altitude Studio to simulate training conditions at 3,000 metres above sea level, so if you're looking to intensify your usual workout routine, try booking in for a session here. Meanwhile, other state-of-the-art equipment such as Kinesis machines and pilates-friendly Reformers cater for more specific needs beyond the usual offerings for cardio and resistance training.
Group classes—which peak at 200 sessions per week—are also scheduled with the busy executive in mind. Those looking to zip in for a quick lunchtime workout will find 30 and 45 minute classes tailored just for this purpose. You'll also find plenty of classes available if you prefer to work up a sweat before or after work.
Pampering wellness facilities continue to form a key part of the experience at Virgin Active. Think sleeping pods, Himalayan salt inhalation rooms, and steam rooms. In addition, members will also enjoy access to a shared 30-metre outdoor pool when Sofitel Singapore City Centre opens in 2017.
