There's now more reason to brunch and chug down copious amounts of coffee with your colleagues
Most of us are now fairly acquainted with Common Man Coffee Roasters (CMCR), otherwise known as the coffee pioneers on Martin Road. They've clearly got the winning formula down pat, with their sumptuous breakfast platters, granola bowls, and heavy-bodied espresso shots.
So, here to make the extensive list of the best things to transpire in 2017, is its sister café Common Man Stan, located right in the heart of the CBD on Stanley Street. While a second separate entity of the well-loved CMCR brand might feel like a long time coming, we're just glad to say better late than never.
First impressions: Common Man Stan reveals an alter-ego persona (as compared to the industrial fitout at Martin Road), with elegant textures of wood, marble, raw cement, and gold accents. What remains the same is the long bar counter, where you can watch your barista in action — in our opinion, the best seat in the house. Venture in, and that's where more booth seats are found, ideal if it's privacy you're seeking.
Expect familiar breakfast favourites like the CMCR Full Breakfast, a medley of eggs, bacon, sausages, rosti and slices of toast, as well as Eggs Benedict topped with braised ox cheeks — both popular options over at the original Common Man. Up for something different? Diners can also dig into new dishes that are exclusive to Common Man Stan. On the breakfast menu, the Potato & Leek Rosti, loaded with wild mushrooms, chilli eggs, and tofu rosti, is a healthy but delicious alternative to start your day with.
To cater to the crowd in the bustling Telok Ayer enclave, there's also a stronger emphasis on lunch plates at Common Man Stan. Think salivating options like the Beef Ribeye Jungle Curry, as well as Ponzu Chicken and House-Made Basil Pesto Brown Rice for the health-conscious.
Last but definitely not least, there's trusty coffee choices for folks who are dead serious about their daily cuppa. Extra hot flat white or a nitro cold brew for warmer days? The guys here at Common Man Stan have got you covered.
