#FirstClassFriday: The Age Collection from Royal Salute
If you thought the SG50 tributes were overwhelming, turn your attention to the lavish spotlight Queen Elizabeth II is basking in this year. As Britain's longest serving monarch, the 89-year-old queen bee has been an absolute constant amidst a sea change of prime ministers and celebrities.
It's fitting that Royal Salute has decided to pay tribute to the queen with The Age Collection, a series of 10 whisky blends that begin at 21 years old and run straight through to 30 years old. They say good things come to those who wait and this adage couldn't ring truer for this rare and exquisite collection of whiskies.
Each blend is housed in a handcrafted crystal bottle and mounted on a plinth designed by architect Sally Mackereth. Needless to say, the plinth is painstakingly carved from 8,000-year-old Neolithic wood by carpentry specialists Jack Badger.
Whisky connoisseurs in Singapore are in for a real treat as Royal Salute has produced a one-off set exclusively for the 2015 DFS Masters of Wines and Spirits. The damage? A cool SGD53,900. If you're looking to buy a Christmas gift for that one friend who already has everything, this bottle will make for a true collector's item.
Available at DFS Masters of Wines and Spirits 2015 from now until 28 November 2015. DFS T Galleria, 25 Scotts Road. Quote 'MOWS BURO 24/7' to receive a complimentary shopping tote.
