Among many other things, Milan plays home to storied Italian houses the likes of Miuccia's Prada, Donatella's Versace, and Alessandro's Gucci. Arguably the global birth place to the "more is more" adage, it's the fashion capital most revered for its unabashed opulence. With that in mind, it's only natural for the streets to reflect its designers' penchant for decadence.
Milan's fashion week hubbub is officially in full swing, and signs of a third-week slump are nowhere to be seen. Show attendees — that hyphenate as style-setters — bring forth their A-game, throwing their hat in the street style ring with outfits that champion personality over pro forma. It's a game where the rules don't apply. Here, we celebrate the fantastical forerunners.
DAY 5: ALL THAT GLITTERS
Sequins for the day? Groundbreaking, as Miranda Pirestly might put it — but although wearing night-time appropriate embellishment is nothing new, it's a surefire trick to amp up even the most unassuming pieces in our wardrobe. Don't just save the sparkle for after dark and follow in the gleaming footsteps of these trailblazers.

DAY 3: MAN UP
Why not give your frill thrills a breather and borrow from the boys instead? Besides doing away with skintight discomfort, you'll be roaming the streets in swashbuckling chicness the way Gilda Ambrosio, Patricia Manfield and Caroline Issa do.

DAY 2: ODE TO BROCADE
As Buro's Trend Gallery affirms, ornate tapestry and baroque embellishments are the season's recurring staples (kudos to Gucci's spellbinding allure). Here's how the streets translate the old-world mania.

DAY 1: GUCCI GIRLS
Equally surreal as Alessandro Michele's 'phatasmagoria' — defined by a Gucci Instagram caption as "a sequence of real or fictional images like those seen in a dream" — is the first day of Milan Fashion Week that spawned Gucci-clad multitudes, with Anna Dello Russo and Yoyo Cao leading the style pack.
