Christophe Lemaire's second Uniqlo U collection is all you need for summer

Desirable functionality is part of Christophe Lemaire's DNA. If one were to inspect the trajectory of the French designer's career, they'd find that he's an extremely loyal man. From a marriage of heritage, craft and classics at Hermès to the louche staples at his eponymous label, there's one thing, above all, that Lemaire has forged his name in.
Essentials. Which is why the artistic director's role at Uniqlo succeeding his collaborations with the brand felt like a homecoming. Working with the company's R&D centre in Paris to scale his second Uniqlo U collection to new heights, the spring/summer 2017 range brings Uniqlo's LifeWear concept of stylish functionality to the fore. There are dresses and T-shirts spun from a new, cotton-like fabric; water-repellent jackets and trousers you'll want to take a summer hike in; and swimwear and rashguards perfect for venturing into the deep. All rendered in Lemaire's trademark mellow shades, with the exception of his penchant for contrasting soft tones with a shot of sultry red.

The Uniqlo U SS17 collection is priced between $14.90 to $149.90. The full range is available at the Uniqlo Global Flagship Store at Orchard Central and online here. Shop selected pieces at the Ion Orchard, Bugis +, Suntec City, Vivo City, Causeway Point, Jem, Jurong Point, Parkway Parade, Tampines 1, Nex and Waterway Point locations. From 17 February.
