Ugly’s new cool: Teva x Ugg
"Suspend Your Disbelief"
Even after years of loyalty, the eye begins to wander — and often times, it sets upon the most unlikely. This time, fashion's love affair with the unbecoming shoe fires aflame. It's all part and parcel of the continuing wave of '90s nostalgia that still has us tightly in its grips, and having year-round dog days adds all the more reason to slip on the easy and breezy. Enter: Ugg and Teva's latest venture into concocting one of the most, shall we say, adventurous kicks to date.
"With this collaboration, we wanted to fuse the most iconic and loved elements from both brands," states Wendy Yang, President of the Performance Lifestyle Group at Deckers Brands, the parent company for both Teva and Ugg. And fused it truly is.
Combining a classic Teva's shape and the wooly sheepskin interior of any given Ugg, the results are the epitome of oddball quirk. Available in hues of black, gray, white, navy and burnt olive, the sandals are right in cue of the season's runway where Teva-like sandals (and a pairing of socks) reigned supreme. On the other foot, the mid-calf boots recall the admissible monstrosity of Yeezy. It also doesn't hurt that they take you on a walk on the comfiest of clouds.
With a tagline that states the obvious, "suspending your disbelief" is the only thing it takes to slip on this collab kicks. A leap of faith. So why not add a double dose of irony and brave a trend that shows no signs of slowing down?
Teva x Ugg collection is available in Ugg stores at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands and Takashimaya Department Store.
