Raf Simons' departure from Christian Dior will seem premature to most, but the Belgian designer has his reasons. "It is after careful and long consideration that I have decided to leave my position as creative director of Christian Dior. It is a decision based entirely and equally on my desire to focus on other interests in my life, including my own brand, and the passions that drive me outside of my work", Simons said to Vogue

One thing's for sure: The designer has proven that harnessing the beauty and femininity of the Dior woman is his forte, and Simons' breathtaking creations were not just confined to the clothes. The flower dome for his parting SS16 ready-t0-wear show for example, was a sight to behold.

Here, we look back on the five best show sets Simons created during his stint at the House of Dior, including the futuristic glass palace last couture season, and of course, his debut FW12 Haute Couture show documented in Dior and I.

1. Spring/summer 2016 ready-to-wear

2. Fall/winter 2015 Haute Couture

3. Spring/summer 2014 Ready-to-Wear

4. Spring/Summer 2013 Haute Couture

5. Fall/winter 2012 Haute Couture
