Big Apple funk: Puma x Dee & Ricky 2.0
Staten Island’s design duo teams up with the sportswear giant for another colourful homage to the city that never sleeps

What's it like to have Kanye West, Rihanna and Beyoncé coveting your Lego creations? Twin brothers Dee and Ricky Johnson are well-versed in answering that question. Having risen to fame with cult-like celebrity followers through crafting multicoloured kiddie blocks into sought-after fashion statements, it wasn't a surprise when their first collaboration with Puma turned out to be a big hit earlier this year.

Carrying on their rags-to-riches success, the designer pair reprised their roles as Puma collaborators for another line of whimsical creations where no colour is deemed too bold. Born and raised in New York, the city's natives recreate their euphoria of adventures in the boroughs by injecting the metropolis' spirit into the sportswear label's classics.

Italian designer Massimo Vignelli's ubiquitous subway map are printed on accessories and well-loved Basket sneakers, while the Big Apple and Lady Liberty make graphic appearances — literally — on track jackets and tees. With the influence of graffiti artists and signature colours of the city, Velcros are given a spin of fun through zippy detachable patches to customise your kicks. Preview the collection in the slide show above and get yourself prepped for the drop in mid-July.

The Puma x Dee & Ricky AW16 collection will be available at Limited Edt and Leftfoot from 16 July.
