Jil Sander inducts ex-Supreme and Dior head designers as their new creative duo
Luke and Lucie Meier to helm the Milan-based German label
It was just last night when word of Massimo Giorgetti's exit from Emilio Pucci made waves, but true to the breakneck speed of fashion, here's another tidbit to chew on: Luke and Lucie Meier have been confirmed as Jil Sander's new creative directors.
While the streetwear obsessed will be all too familiar with Luke Meier as the ex-head designer of Supreme (and one-half of casualwear label OAMC), many are probably wondering who Rodolfo Paglialunga's replacements actually are. Well, remember the interim between Raf Simons' departure at Dior and Maria Grazia Chiuri's entrance? Lucie Meier (also Luke's wife and the ex-head designer of Dior's haute couture and ready-to-wear collections) was responsible for co-leading Dior's FW16 collection.
So, as the power couple joins forces to bring Jil Sander to the fore, the winning mash of luxury and street couldn't be more promising — one perfectly aligned with fashion's recent climate of cross-pollination. Yes, we're thinking Louis Vuitton's affair with Supreme and Fragment. And now, it's Jil Sander's time to shine.
The Meiers will show their debut collection for Jil Sander in spring/summer 2018.
