Joining Rafael Nadal as brand ambassador is social media influencer and supermodel, Gigi Hadid. The new and exciting partnership will see Hadid designing her first collection together with the American designer as well as fronting the brand's campaigns.
Set to launch in fall 2016, the capsule collection called Gigi by Tommy Hilfiger will include apparel, footwear and accessories in hippie chic, sporty streetwear and tomboyish styles. A new fragrance said to celebrate Hadid's personal take on style and Hilfiger's iconic American heritage will also be launched.
"I never thought I would be asked to design a capsule collection, so it still feels like a dream that Tommy approached me to collaborate," said Gigi Hadid. "His company is one that I genuinely love and have been a fan of for my entire life, and Tommy is the easiest, most fun person to work with. I have always looked up to his brand, campaigns and design style. I think our collection celebrates the iconic Tommy lifestyle and mixes a bit of everything: There are styles that are really hippie-chic, styles that are sporty streetwear, and styles that are tomboy but girly; everyone is going to love a different part of it."
When asked why Tommy Hilfiger picked Hadid, the designer explains, "she is truly a definition of today's 'Tommy Girl' — her magnetic personality is bright and always optimistic, and her style is confident, effortless and cool."
The collaboration comes as no surprise with Hadid having walked the brand's runway shows and epitomising the American girl of today. Hadid joins past collaborators such as Beyoncé, Kate Hudson, Alexa Chung, and Suki and Immy Waterhouse.
