Givenchy is really hitting it out of the park with the latest announcement for its fall/winter 2015 campaign. Instead of featuring the army of lithe, goth-rock models we've become used to, the brand will feature the legendary Italian designer Donatella Versace. Creative director Riccardo Tisci took to Instagram to release the news saying, "So proud and honored to introduce my new ultimate icon: Donatella Versace", alongside what is presumably a teaser image of the upcoming advertisement.
The photo features Tisci and Versace leaning in towards each other in a familial embrace. From what we know, it's going to be called the 'Givenchy Family Campaign' and involves French stylist Carine Roitfeld as well as photographer duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
Givenchy has a history of selecting groundbreaking personalities to feature in their ad campaigns. Most recently, Julia Roberts fronted the brand's spring/summer 2015 campaign sans her famous smile, dressed in a 'boyish' serious manner to "make her more intellectual, more serious, more pure," said Tisci. A boundary-pusher, he also featured transgender model Lea T in the Givenchy fall/winter 2010 campaign.
