Diane von Furstenberg appoints successor
After two years of searching, DVF has finally appointed her successor who she thinks will be "the next superstar"

Succession planning is never easy but designer extraordinaire Diane von Furstenberg has appointed the next CEO of her company after a long two-year search. Paolo Riva was appointed the CEO of Diane von Furstenberg Studio; a newly-created position that sees him assuming responsibility for all aspects of the company.

“He completely seduced me in the way he sees me, the way he sees the brand, the way he sees the potential, and the way he sees the world in disruption,” von Furstenberg told WWD. Riva previously held positions at Valentino and Salvatore Ferragamo, and most recently was vice president, apparel and visual merchandising at Tory Burch LLC.

“[DVF] is an incredible jewel. It’s one of the best-kept secrets. In order to unlock the potential of the brand, we need to give the woman a reason to enter the DVF world and to give them a reason to buy,” Riva told WWD. We need to offer a valuable and compelling merchandised collection so the customer can embrace every aspect of it, across ready-to-wear, accessories and shoes.”

It will be exciting to see what Riva brings to the brand known for its irreverent, fun-loving and women-empowering collections. DVF is currently available in 55 countries and has over 1,500 points around the world.
