All eyes are on The Row. That's right, the ultra-luxe, über-minimalist label started by celebrity sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen has won the prestigious Womenswear Designer of the Year at the 2015 CFDA Awards. Having quietly built their fashion empire by focusing on luxurious basics (who can forget their US$39,000 crocodile backpack?), the duo are well on their way to conquering the fashion world, and this latest award has sealed their reputation as one of the best in the business.
Other winners of the night included Tom Ford, who took home the Menswear Designer of the Year award, and Tabitha Simmons, who won Accessories Designer of the Year.
In addition, Swarovski handed out three awards to up-and-coming designers of the moment in American fashion. These included Rosie Assoulin, who won the award for womenswear, Shayne Oliver of Hood By Air for menswear, and Mansur Gavriel for accessory design.
