Nostalgia was in the air as highly-raved biographical drama Jackie hit the screens on the last day of the Venice Film Festival. The premiere of the daring biopic on former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy was met with much buzz, given Natalie Portman’s powerful portrayal of the late fashion icon. And fittingly, the Jackie star stunned in a Valentino laser-cut gown with flounced cap-sleeves to match.

While white lace may be a matrimony favourite, these stars proved monochrome lace evokes just the right dose of romance and old-school elegance. British-French actress and director Carmen Chaplin showed us how its done in an empire gown adorned in ebony finery, while Italian actress Matilde Gioli went boho and ethereal in a matching set.
