The big news at this year's Tony Awards was that Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour would be taking charge of dressing thespians and celebrities for the event. And when Anna is involved, you can expect the glamour dial to be turned all the way up. Working with public relations juggernaut KCD, Broadway stars were decked out with an all-American roster of fashion labels: Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Prabal Gurung and Oscar de la Renta were all included.
With a dash of old Hollywood charm, many chose long flowing gowns — such as Jennifer Lopez in an elegant deep blue gown embroidered with gold stars to Misty Copeland's white column dress with laser cut details — while others opted for the short and sweet, but richly embroidered; like Amanda Seyfried, who looked stunning in a brocade cocktail dress.
Meanwhile, Joan Smalls, Hilary Rhoda and Bella Hadid showed off their lithe figures in long, lean silhouettes; and Bee Shaffer looked sexy and modern in a full length sequinned Marc Jacobs dress.
Speaking of modern, Ashley Tisdale's edgy interpretation of a pantsuit, with its bandeau cropped top and wide legged pants, was the perfect fashion anti-thesis to frothier confections.
