Best dressed at Cannes Film Festival 2016 — Opening ceremony: Back to black
Classic and chic
When it comes to the opening ceremony for Cannes 2016, it doesn’t have to be a dress, it just has to be black
Festival de Cannes is back for its 69th year, and the who's who of the film industry are in town to battle it out for the prestigious Palme d'Or. While the competition on the silver screen will be electrifying, the festival also brings out the best in red carpet fashions.
Amidst the glitz and glamour of the opening night — with the premiere of Woody Allen's Café Society — there was a dominant trend on the red carpet: Black. The classic hue was a hit after hit; seen on the likes of Kristen Stewart, Julianne Moore, Marina Orlova and Lily Donaldson. The contrast of black against the red carpet made for a stunning combination. Whether it was the back-baring gown as seen on Doutzen Kroes; the sleek jumpsuit on Victoria Beckham; or the glittery gown worn by Julianne Moore, one thing is clear: Black reigned supreme.
