Last night, Ken Loach's I, Daniel Blake took the Palme d'Or, followed by Xavier Dolan's It's Only the End of the World with the Grand Prix. Rolling out the red carpet for the last time for the 69th Festival de Cannes, black dresses were once again proven to be the choice, albeit with unconventional spins.

American Honey star Sasha Lane stomped the red carpet in lug-soled booties to complete her Louis Vuitton Fall 2016 double silt long-sleeved dress layered with a leather bustier look. Marie-Josée Croze outfitted her shapely figure in a black mesh number for a hint of peekaboo whereas Alice Isaaz chose a minimalist gown to yield maximum impact. Also on the red carpet was Ava West in a black rosette-apliquéd dress. Needless to say, Vanessa Paradis pulled off a black strapless number sporting an under-layer of frilly lace with her usual aplomb.
