First look: Alexander McQueen opens new store at Scotts Square
A few things come to mind when you think about Alexander McQueen: Great design, impossibly cool accessories and that wry British humour that fans of the brand just love. Combining these elements, the British luxury label is expanding its retail presence in Singapore with a second boutique at Scotts Square.
Spanning 240 square meters, the store encompasses the entire Alexander McQueen world, carrying accessories and the ready-to-wear lines for both men and women. Seasonal items and mainstay pieces (we're looking at those covetable knucklebox clutches) will be offered at the store as well.
The boutique was designed in conjunction with renowned British design firm, David Collins Studio. Inspirations for the store includes the Surrealist work of artist HR Giger, Rorschach inkblots and flora and fauna (a recurring theme in McQueen stores around the world). Subtle tributes to the codes of the house were also incorporated cleverly: Look close enough at the store's plaster panel mouldings and you'll recognise the curved seams of an Alexander McQueen heritage jacket and its iconic 'Armadillo' shoe reflected there.
Of the design of the Scotts Square store, creative director of David Collins Studio, Simon Rawlings said, "In our design concept for Alexander McQueen's Scotts Square store in Singapore, we set out to identify its tenets and translate them subtly into an interior environment that feels characteristic yet constantly fresh and reflective of the specific cultural and geographic context of each store."
Located at Scotts Square, 6 Scotts Road, #01-01 and #02-01A.
