In a move that signals the continued rise and importance of menswear, Michael Kors announced the appointment of Marcel Ostwald as senior vice president for menswear. The newly created role will oversee the development of creative brand strategy and product vision for the menswear division, reporting directly to Michael Kors and Mark Brashear, president of menswear.
"We are very pleased that Marcel Ostwald is bringing his talent, experience and innovative spirit to Michael Kors," says John D. Idol, chairman and CEO of Michael Kors. "We look forward to Marcel's leadership in creating both exceptional product and a strong men's fashion identity that captures the essence of the Michael Kors brand DNA."
Earlier this year, Kors unveiled his biggest flagship store to date. Spanning three-storeys over 22,000 square feet, the flagship was also the first store to have a dedicated space for the menswear line. As menswear plays catch-up with womenswear in the retail sector, this new appointment signals a serous investment in men's fashion for the American brand.
