With Kim Jones gracing the occasion in the land Down Under, the brand's first menswear pop-up store is indeed all it's made out to be. Setting up in the reknowned shopping mall Westfield Sydney, Louis Vuitton spared no expense in bringing an exclusive glimpse of their spring/summer 2017 pre-collection over to Australia — housed in an African-inspired space riffing off Jones' collaboration with visual artist duo, the Chapman brothers.
Known for distilling their works from a diverse scope of inspirations — such as, philosophical theory, art history and consumer culture — Jake and Dinos Chapman's brilliance is imbued even in the set-up. Enter, and be greeted by the sketch of an elephant — peerless as it flanks both the floor and ceiling. A sizable hint as to what you can expect from the artistic director's threads, pre-spring showcases a series of shirts, scarves, and leather accessories — all wildly infused with the Chapmans' animal illustrations. The highlight? Undoubtedly the maison's Nil sling bag fronted by a rhinoceros, exclusive to the city of Sydney.
Stay tuned for an interview with Louis Vuitton's Kim Jones.
