Paris Fashion Week SS16: Balmain
#BalmainArmy: Going to a Balmain show is like attending a red carpet event. Except, it's packed not only with A-listers in the frow, but on the catwalk as well. The Hadid sisters, Kendall Jenner, Jourdan Dunn, Lily Donaldson and Binx Walton were all in attendance and had their game faces on for the runway. And even more big names in Rousteing's line-up: Lindsey Wixson, Fei Fei Sun and Ginta Lapina. Of course, Kris Kardashian caught all the action from the front row.
The looks: Earthy tones, sumptious suede, and expertly netted pieces reflected the menswear SS16 show, but cascading ruffles and diamond cut-outs on dresses and skirts were fresh for spring. Exaggerated shoulders (look 5) in stiff suede were balanced out by a form-fitting mini and generous ruffles complemented by a figure-hugging upper (look 16). Amidst the Balmain jamboree, Rousteing's sheer brilliance was not forgotten.
I spy: Models kitted out in wide, curved chrome plates as chokers — the designer's choice of armour for his army.
Worth the investment: Any piece from the collection, really. But, the disco ball dress worn by Alessandro Ambrosio (look 11) tops our list for sure — it gives new meaning to being the life of a party.
Buro loves: The signature Rousteing netted dresses that are knotted and crafted to hug the body. It's flattering, oozes sensuality, and is a work of art all in one. Who doesn't love art?
